In 2009 Temple Beth-El, Knoxville, TN was vandalized. Someone had used a slig shot to throw rocks the size of bricks through the stained glass windows. The bright white spots are holes in the stained glass windows. We removed the broken stained glass panels and brought them to our studio. The members had saved all the broken pieces of stained glass (see photos on the bottom right). We put the smashed pieces back together to determine the original shape / color / and location of the broken pieces. We used old photos (that someone from the congregation provided) to determine the lead lines and paint lines. Then we painted the replacement pieces to match the stained glass window. When we re-installed the windows, we repaired the putty glazing and covered the stained glass with Lexan XL which is an unbreakable polycarbonate.
